Rain in California -

Rain in California is BIG NEWS.  It's been all over the TV the past few days.  I thought that was a bit amusing.  Then it hit this morning.

It's just like the first snow storm of the year in the midwest.  Everyone forgets how to drive in the snow.

Here everyone forgets how to drive in the rain. I was told that the roads here are worse in the rain because the oil build up on the road doesn't get washed away with regular rain storms.

That I can't vouch for.  What I can tell you is that my 45 bus ride was 2 hours this morning. Wish I had my umbrella.

I need a motorcade

I love Chicago drivers. We're not quite used to this sort of thing yet. I'm hoping our new President doesn't take the Kennedy too often.

A nod to Fare Photography

My friend's Blog focuses on his love of cuisine. He used to take pictures of his meals on trips souvenirs. And then his wife suggested. Start a Blog. So since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

Arles, France. Restaurant Le 16. After a wonderful salad with a mustard vinaigrette and a boring, dry bull stew with overly salty red rice I was pleasantly surprised with these profiteroles. Soft shells filled with sweet vanilla ice cream topped with almonds and one of the best chocolate sauces I've tasted. Excellent.

Enjoy!

That said and at the risk of starting Le War, the food in France has been very disappointing. Italy has it all over them so far. I am reserving final judgment until after Paris where I've been given several recommendations by my friend Vincent a former resident of Paris and a food and wine connoisseur. Perhaps Provence will yet surprise me.

Lunch a la Lisa

Having lunch at the top of castle hill in nice. All bought from the open air market. And yes. I am missing chocolate and wine. Sigh. Maybe later.

I'm Moving to Spain

70% Of Navarra's Power Comes From Wind, Solar (TreeHugger)

Some people are warmongers, some are pacifists. I'm a technologist. Let's use our brain power and engineering resources to solve the issues of housing and food. Harness renewable sources of energy, promote efficient housing, research the best crops. People that are well fed, have shelter and clothing will still fight, but hopefully over whether they prefer Picasso or Dali.
